Joel lifts both his hands, cupping Spencer's face as he searches him for some kind of injury even though he's just been told that he's fine, that this all looks worse than it really is, but he can't help himself. After the night in the lighthouse he's spent most of his time concentrating on ways he can make Spencer feel better and he's resolutely ignored any and all fears that have risen in him as a result of that night. It's hard to ignore them now, surrounded by this circus, and it's stupid, it's nothing to be made a big deal of, but his heart is pounding heavily all the same.
"You blew up the microwave," he echoes, still holding Spencer's face between his hands. "Jesus Christ, I saw the ambulance and I thought... I thought..." But he doesn't know what he thought, exactly, only that he was afraid. He knows he's overreacting and that the people around them are probably rolling their eyes if they're eavesdropping on this conversation at all, because he looks far too worried about someone who'd only blown up a microwave.
"Sorry," he says a second later, blinking a few times. "I just... I- I don't know what I thought, but it wasn't good."
