doublethepain: (forever angry at this face)

Spencer lets out a defensive huff before settling back into silence because it's not as if this is something he can really win. Davin had seen right through him and there's no defense, so Spencer just wrinkles his nose and takes a long sip of his coffee in order to avoid having to address it at all. What gets a small smirk out of his is the way Davin so openly uses his powers, reaching out for the wrench as it floats to him from its place in the toolbox, and Spencer gives a slight shake of his head.

"You know, you could just move the toolbox closer to you," he teases, smile widening. The actual truth of it is that he isn't used to seeing such casual displays of magic. The town is full of witches, but Spencer's witch had spent so many years trying to hide that part of himself from others that he thinks that's kind of just become ingrained in his husband. Then again, Joel's powers don't involve being able to call things out of mid-air, and he doesn't have the firm grasp on his premonitions he wants quite yet so Spencer supposes it's different for everyone.

He's reminded of the woman he'd seen on the boardwalk, the one who'd been uncontrollably shooting sparks from her hands--one of which had hit him, and the burn has healed much faster than normal because of the salves Joel had applied to it but still, it's painful if he moves too much or too quickly--and he wonders if that had ever been a problem for Davin. If his magic has ever given him as much trouble as it seems to give so many other witches in this town.

Just as he's opening his mouth to ask as much, though, another car comes pulling up to the garage, and Spencer squints against the sun to try to make out who it is through the windshield. "I thought you said I was the last one?" he asks, glancing back at Davin curiously. "Maybe one of your employees forgot to pencil this one in."
