davin: (tearful)

He comes back in waves.

First it's just pain, and he doesn't want to wake up. It hurts too bad, like the worst fucking migraine ever, so he keeps his eyes closed and decides to stay asleep. But then he feels the cold. It's seeping into his bones and he's wet and stiff, and there's something sticky all over his face.

He opens his eyes to see a dark, dank looking room and he tenses up, letting out a low groan and reaching up to touch his head. He fingers come away bloody and that's when he remembers everything, all of it. He gasps and plants his palms against the floor, plunging his hands into cool water, and looks around for Spencer. He's right next to him with a split lip and Davin's eyes go wide as he looks around, trying to find Roman, but he isn't there. Everything is still a bit fuzzy and he can't seem to find his words. He's so confused and terrified, and in so much pain that he sort of wants to throw up, so he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

"Did he say what he wanted?" Davin asks after a moment, because there has to be an end game to this. Roman isn't doing it for fun. Davin blinks blearily and looks down at the water. It's covering the whole floor and Davin is uncomfortably drenched. "What's with the - "

It hits Davin then. There's no way to use his powers of electricity to fight back, not with them sitting in water. He can't electrocute himself but a single spark could send that electricity through the water, and right into Spencer.

"I can't shock him without shocking you. That's what the water's for," Davin says quietly. He grits his teeth and reaches up to grasp at the brick wall, scraping his fingers as he pulls himself into a standing position. His stomach lurches and he has to close his eyes as he sways dangerously, but he manages to pull himself together. "But that's not all I have. I'm gonna get us outta here, okay? It's gonna be alright."

There are bars on the windows. They were probably once used to keep people out, and now it's to keep them in. Davin swallows hard and lifts a hand, calling for that metal, but it doesn't budge. Nothing happens, nothing at all, and Davin takes a staggering step back. "Oh god."

He looks at Spencer with an utterly wounded expression and his eyes dart around the room. His magic, that always familiar pleasant buzz under his skin, is entirely muted. It's gone, and Davin feels completely undone. He feels violated, stripped bare, and so fucking empty that he does almost throw up, just from the sheer force of loss. His magic was the very first thing that he ever had to call his own. It's what saved him, what gave him something to cling to. It's the tool he used to find himself and become the person he is today. It was something entirely his, and such a integral part of him that he never even thought to imagine what life could be like without it.

Now he knows.

"W-what did he do t'my magic?" Davin asks desperately, tears burning in his eyes. He's shaking all over and he shakes his head as in disbelief as he looks at Spencer. After a moment, he falls to his knees in the water and looks down at his hands, fingers spread wide as he tries and tries to call any piece of metal to him, any loose screw or lost paperclip, but there's no answer. His magic, for the first time since Davin discovered it, is completely quiet. "It's gone. I can't - Spencer, I can't feel it. What did he do?"
