Joel lifts his gaze at that, his brow creasing, because it's not uncommon isn't the answer he'd been expecting. He takes the bottle, but doesn't open it, more bewildered than anything. What he needs is for James to get here or for the police to arrive or for someone to start treating this place like a crime scene. He wants to see police tape and evidence bags, he wants people who are going to find his husband.
